Do The Next Thing

Many a question, many a fear, many a doubt will be quieted here.

Moment by moment, let down from heaven, Time, opportunity, guidance are given.

Fear not tomorrows, child of the King. Trust them with Jesus. Do the next thing.

-excerpt from poem written by Elizabeth Elliot

These words of this poem have been a great comfort in this season of our life. Have you ever felt so busy that you don’t even know where to begin? Your to-do list keeps growing and you stare at it with blank eyes, not knowing where to begin. Then you realize you have been thinking about what to do first for 10 minutes when you could have already gotten a task completed. This has been us, but oh the kindness of the Lord to give us strength to just do the next thing.

Reflecting on this past month, the Lord has been so kind to provide us with the endurance each and every day. To Him be all the glory! We finished another year of school. We finished Greek (never thought I’d say that). We submit final papers. We traveled many times and made it home safely EVERY time. We celebrate siblings in their Gilbert in Sullivan production. We continued to be edified by the local church that we are knit to. Oh the kindness of the Lord to undeserving sinners like us. Often our eyes were blinded in the large lists, yet grace was there to meet us when we just did the next thing.

Below are a few updates in the many places we find our feet, each with their own prayer request.

School: We are done with spring semester! Thank you so much for your prayers during this season of devotion to academic study of the things of God. As we take an eight week break for summer, pray that our time would be restful. That we would fill our time with that which is pleasing to God.

Till Glory: Now that school is over we are able to give more attention to filling Proper House with beautiful wood pieces. Pray that the Lord would grant us creativity and people to support our business. This past month Jake made a beautiful quilt cutting board. Look on our website to see the final product. We also discovered how to create hand slots on all our boards, which make lifting them easier.

Church: What a wonderful season it has been as we serve our local church. Something we are looking forward to is our Summer Equipping as we focus our attention on Global Missions. This topic is near to us and we are excited to see where the Lord continues to shape us and our church to reach the nations with the gospel.

Personal: We have been loving some board games recently. After dinner most nights you can find us with a game out getting pretty competitive. Here are two of our favorites from this last month: Cascadia and Azul. Hope you can also enjoy good company and some fun. Pray that the Lord would be glorified in our everyday life!
